Summer is such a fun and easy time to get out and enjoy the sunshine and warm weather. Here are a list of 10 cheap summer dates that’ll keep you
1. Have a Picnic
A classic summer date. Grab a basket, or bag, or whatever you want to hold your food in, take a blanket, and find a nice little park where you can sit, chat, and eat.
2. Spend the day at the pool
Remember how much fun it was to go to the pool as a kid? Well it’s your lucky day, because they’re just as fun as you remember! The pool by my house has the most exciting slides, we spend the entire time climbing up stairs and sliding back down!
3. Go for a hike
You never have to drive far to find nature. Especially where we live here in Utah! Mountains and hiking trails are always just a short drive away. (Nature walks are also a good alternative.)
4. Park day
As with swimming pools, parks are still fun! My husband and I will take a Frisbee, a soccer ball or basketball, a blanket and have a grand old time! The swings are usually available a bit later in the day too, hahaha.
5. Make a fire pit
Roasting marshmallows over an open fire late at night is a classic summer activity. If you don’t have a fire pit of your own, you can usually find them out and about on different hiking trails, or just start up your barbecue. Don’t forget to take some starbursts and Twinkies for some really fun roasting!
6. Outdoor concerts
Yes, they have free outdoor concerts! They also have cheap ones. It’s a concert, so yeah, it’s gonna be a good time.
7. Go Star gazing
The further you are from the city, the better of course, but you can stargaze at home too if you’re crunched for time. Just make sure all the lights are off around you, and keep warm! Also, how romantic is stargazing? Very.
8. Local lakes and national parks
This might be more of a day trip, depending on where you live, but well worth it! Find a local lake, beach, or national park and spend the day outside!
9. Drive-in Movies
Going to the Drive-in Movies is always a blast in the summer time! take some camping chairs if your car isn’t comfortable, grab some blankets and snacks and you’re set for a night of fun! (If you don’t have a drive-in movie theater nearby you could always watch a movie in your backyard to recreate the effect.)
10. Outdoor festivals
You don’t have to be remotely interested in the festival itself, it’s just fun to go! Once my husband and I were going to the park to play some soccer, but there was a Scottish festival going on. So we had fun walking around and looking at the different tents and events going on. Every year I go down to the art festival too, and that’s always a blast. There are lantern festivals, color festivals, your local state farm, and farmers markets are fun too! It’s like they’re trying to get us out of the house or something…
Summer is such easy time to get out and enjoy each other’s company. Let me know if there’s anything fun and cheap you all like to do in the comments!
