The end of January/beginning of February marks the time of the Chinese New Year! I remember making paper lantern’s when I was younger and I enjoyed it so so much. So today, I thought I would share how to make this really simple Paper Lantern with all of you!
- Construction Paper
- A ruler
- A Pencil
- Ribbon/hot glue or tape to decorate (optional)
First I laid my paper out horizontally, measured a rulers width down the paper, and drew a line across the paper. This will serve as a template for the cutting.
Fold your paper in half. (Hamburger style, haha.) Cut a strip from the folded part of the paper up to the line.
Continue to Cut strips until your paper looks like this!
When you open up your paper it should look like this. I added some ribbon to it to make it a little more fun, and Added a Handle made from paper as well.
That’s all there is to it! Take your lantern and you can staple/tape/glue it into a cylinder. I made a few of these, and they’re so fun and easy to make! Let me know what you all think in the comments, and make sure to check out some of my other posts!
